About Irvine Family Care:

 

All of our physicians are board certified in Family Medicine by The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) . We actively participate in continuing education courses through out the year, and are re-certified by the ABFM every seven years.

 

Janet Goodfellow, M.D.

Dr. Janet GoodfellowDr. Goodfellow is a Southern California native. She graduated from UCLA Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology. She completed her Medical Degree at USC. Dr. Goodfellow completed her medical training at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center with a 3-year residency in Family Medicine where she was Chief Resident. 

Following her training, Dr. Goodfellow backpacked around the world with her husband prior to settling into private practice in Orange County. Dr. Goodfellow spends her personal time with her husband and two young daughters who are her greatest joy and most humbling teachers. She tries hard to balance her professional life with “mommy time”. Dr. Goodfellow enjoys sports, hiking, theater and dance, and was once a competitive ice skater.

Dr. Goodfellow’s medical practice includes people of all ages, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. She loves the challenge and diversity of Family Medicine.

 

Sheryl L. Miller Long, M.D.

Dr.Sheryl L. Miller LongDr. Long graduated from the University of Texas, Austin, with a degree in Humanities. She attended medical school at the University of California, Irvine, receiving the Family Practice Department Award, Senior Humanitarian Award, and elected as Co-President of the Medical Student Body at UCI in her senior year. Following medical school, Dr. Long completed her internship and a three-year residency at UCLA Santa Monica Family Practice. .  In 1986, she received the Mead Johnson Award recognizing 20 top Family Practice Residents nationally. Dr. Long has been a Clinical Instructor for the American Academy of Family Practice, and has been on the volunteer faculty at UCI Medical School. She has worked seven years on the Family Practice Core Committee, and nine years on the Coastal Physicians Purchasing Group at Hoag Hospital. She worked with Newport Family Medicine, from Sept. 1987 to Jan 2007, serving as it’s president for many of those years. With years of experience and skills and for personal and professional reasons, she chose to start a new group in Irvine, with Drs. Janet Goodfellow and Dr. Ron Young. Ron Young, M.D.

Dr. Ron YoungDr. Ronald Young hails from Denver, Colorado. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Molecular Biology. He then went to medical school in Denver at the CU-Health Sciences Center. He completed his medical training in Southern California at Northridge Family Practice, a UCLA-affiliated family medicine residency, where he was chief resident. He is board certified in Family Medicine. 

He enjoys family medicine because of the opportunity to prevent illnesses, the ability to interact with each person to find the best course for each individual, and the amazing prospect of working with all the generations within a family.

Dr. Young likes sports medicine and helps treat student-athletes at local high schools. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, traveling, reading, and playing the saxophone. 

 

Stacy Vencill MPH, PA-C

Stacy Vencill MPH, PA-CStacy Vencill is a graduate from the George Washington University Physician Assistant Program, in Washington DC. At GWU, she completed a Masters of Science and a Masters of Public Health, specializing in Maternal and Child Health. During her training, she became passionate about working with underserved populations and enjoyed participating in a variety of community projects.

 

Stacy grew up in Southern California and graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a major in Physiology and minor in Chemistry. In addition, she gained the clinical experience needed for PA school while working in Physical Therapy for two years.

 

Her medical interests include Women’s Health and participating in medical missions. Stacy lives with her husband and two dogs in Tustin Ranch. She enjoys Pilates, traveling and spending time with her family.
